Elden Ring’s massive popularity has started to lure some unsavory players that are affecting PC players and causing massive issues with save games. This has led to Elden Ring PC players being warned to switch from online to offline play.

There has been a detailed account on Reddit and an explanation on the official Elden Ring Twitter account regarding this issue. It appears that hackers are gaining access to PC players’ saved game files and corrupting them, forcing a crash. Once the player reboots from the saved file, they will find themselves in an endless death loop. Every time the saved file is loaded, the player will fall to their death.

This same issue happened in Dark Souls 3, but neither FromSoftware nor Bandai Namco has released an official statement addressing this issue. Instead, players have taken it on themselves to warn each other through the available social media channels.

Some players have discovered that they can escape the loop by fast traveling to a site of grace. However, you would have to be very quick, and this is not a solution for everyone but worth a try if you find yourself in one of these loops. Players have recommended that other PC players opt-out of invasions or switch to the offline game mode until the developers release a full fix. Also, if you aren’t making backups of your saved files, now would be a great time to start.

With hackers trying to ruin the fun for PC players, we hope the developers will release a fix soon. We will be keeping an eye on the situation to see how it progresses and how long it takes for the developers, who’ve been releasing fixes frequently, to fix this significant issue. In the meantime, you can read about how Elden Ring makes it tougher to cheese bosses.

Since leaving school I immediately started working and have been involved in many different industries where I learned a wide range of skills. Some of my skills range from marketing to management and even teaching special needs children, particularly those with severe developmental delays. I am a self-proclaimed holiday nut, taking any chance I can get to decorate and celebrate major holidays such as Easter, Halloween and Christmas, often planning these months in advance! I have a wide range of passions that I persue (as often as I can) such as reading, writing, bonsai, crafting, creating natural beauty products, listening to music and playing games (prefered platforms being PC and Xbox).
