Elden Ring has released its latest update, and so far, it’s been received with mixed feelings. Whether you’ll experience these changes as positive depends on how far you’ve progressed in the game. However, if you’ve been waiting to tackle the tough bosses until you’re stronger, you may have missed your best chance to defeat them

Players have discovered a way to cheese their way through some of the most challenging fights. There are quite a few YouTube videos showing players cheesing their way through battles with Malenia (arguably the strongest boss in the game) by using Mimic Tear.

Mimic Tear conjures up a clone of your character. The clone has precisely the same stats as your current character and is equipped with the same items, armor, and weapons. This gives you a much better chance at defeating Malenia and other strong bosses. Not only do you have a mimic to draw fire, but between your character and the clone, you can deal double the damage.

However, with the release of update v1.03, that tactic is no longer possible. The developers of Elden Ring, FromSoftware, have drastically reduced the damage dealt by your spirit clone. Also, they changed the clone’s behavior to make it more difficult to defeat the strong bosses like Malenia using this technique.

These are not the only changes and improvements that came with this more significant update. There have been many bug fixes and new content and NPCs introduced with this last update. You can view the full patch notes for Elden RIng update v1.03 here.

If you’ve taken the time to build up your character and missed your chance at an easier win on tough bosses, perhaps it’s time to look at some Elden Ring cheat mods that may make the game a little easier.
